Milk Bar & Bistro
Barri Gòtic
Opened in 2005 by an Irish couple, back when nobody in Barcelona did brunch. Its "recovery brunch" has a cult following, and it becomes a cocktail bar in the evening.

Ciutat Vella district
Barri Gòtic
The Gothic Quarter is Barcelona's oldest neighbourhood, built over the Roman town of Barcino. Its narrow, winding lanes open onto quiet squares, Gothic churches and stretches of 2,000-year-old wall. It's the most visited part of the city — but turn a corner or two and it can feel surprisingly peaceful.

Start at the cathedral, wander to Plaça del Rei and the remains of the Temple of Augustus, then lose yourself in the lanes around Plaça de Sant Felip Neri. Plaça Reial is lively day and night. Most sights are free to walk past, and the area is best explored early in the morning or in the evening.
Atmospheric but noisy, with many short-term rentals and few supermarkets or green spaces. Flats are often small and dark. Great for a first few months; most long-term residents end up moving somewhere quieter.
