The best hostels in Barcelona, by travel style
The best hostels in Barcelona for party lovers, solo travellers, light sleepers and beach bums — plus which neighbourhood to stay in and hostel tips.

Barcelona has some of the best hostels in Europe — and some of the loudest. The right one depends less on price than on what kind of trip you want. Here are our picks, grouped by travel style.
Prices change with the season and big events (Mobile World Congress, Primavera Sound, summer weekends). Book early, and always read recent reviews before you pay.

Which neighbourhood to stay in
- Gothic Quarter — walk everywhere, nightlife on the doorstep, noisy at night.
- Eixample — central, well connected, calmer. Most of the city's hostels are here.
- Gràcia — local squares and terraces, a short metro ride from the centre.
- Poblenou — beaches and a relaxed pace, a little further from the sights.
Hostel tips for Barcelona
- Bring a padlock for your locker, and keep valuables locked up — pickpockets target busy areas, not hostels, but it's good practice.
- Check age rules. Some party hostels only take guests within an age range.
- Tourist tax is charged per person per night on top of the room price, usually on arrival.
- Look for curtained bunks with their own light and socket — a big upgrade on a long stay.
- Book direct when you can: hostels often match or beat booking-site prices.
Meet people beyond the hostel
Hostel bars are great, but Barcelona has English-speaking meetups, dinners and sport almost every night — visitors welcome. See what's on this week.
